At this very moment, one can see through the one who sees through..

Lead me from dreaming to waking.
Lead me from opacity to clarity.
Lead me from the complicated to the simple.
Lead me from the obscure to the obvious.
Lead me from intention to attention.
Lead me from what I'm told I am to what I see I am.
Lead me from confrontation to wide openness.
Lead me to the place I never left,
Where there is peace, and peace
- The Upanishads

*note* Marvelous song of peace from Mumon..
To instantly realize is to see endless time.
Endless time is this very moment.
If one sees through the thought of this very moment,
At this very moment, one can see through the one who sees through...(from Mumon)

As the new year is here..remember your original face!..says the mahayogi!
For you ARE the beauty of creation .. created for YOu to experience your TRUE face.
You are here to find and express the CREATION itself's purpose..
I had this insight many years ago...when I went ,,poof,, in light and a voice told me,(from myself) that I was here to experience myself.
In other words..I was telling me to experience myself!...the marvelous wonder!..of wanders! The loved, the beloved ..the seen and the unseen...I was me all the time, the fly in the wind, while I was BOTH the fly and the WIND.
-The fly in the wind-

I'm just a fly in the wind
When I let my wings spring
I still remember ,and I sing
I'm butterfly in my true being.!!.

I love commas(they love me)
Nothing I could do,you see?
Try to find my true desire
Am I fly,or just vampire?

Maybe fly,or maybe butter
Maybe butter,maybe fly
Who's to ask, who's to say why?
Being with God is all that matter.!!.

I'm just a fly in the wind
But when I let my wings spring
I fly above,and then I sing
I'm butterfly in my true being..!!

CASE 47. TOSOTSU'S THREE BARRIERS

Master Tosotsu, setting up the three barriers, always tried the pursuer of the Way:
"To search for the Way, the Zen student tries to grasp one's own nature and be enlightened."
"Now where is your true nature?"
Secondly,
"Once having grasped one's own nature, one is free from birth and death. If then, one's eyeballs have dropped dead, how can one be free from life?"
Thirdly,
"Being free from birth and death, one instantly knows where to go after death."
"Being dead and the body dispersed into the four elements, where then does one go?"

Mumon's Comments:
Whoever can pass these three barriers will be a master anywhere. Whatever happens, this person should be able to become the founder of Zen. Should one be not yet capable of answering these three questions, this person must diligently chew them well to finally comprehend them. Humble meals fill one's stomach, and chewing them well, one will never starve.

To instantly realize is to see endless time.
Endless time is this very moment.
If one sees through the thought of this very moment,
At this very moment, one can see through the one who sees through....I recommend you see these 2 videos in the same time,to KNOW what Mumon ment..do it.(added by danny)

Kill the swine flu with baking soda and vitamin C...I sense victory!

*note* of course one can kill the virus with energy, like in the star wars movies..the problem is that not everyone is a mighty mahayogi like me,so they need to correct the elements using elements.
So one way is to use baking soda(sodium bicarbonate..the stuff used to make cakes)
The other way is to use vitamin C (that would slow the sucker virus down to it's knees,if you take 10 pills a day..trust me)
C vitamin will also help calcium metabolism and if you can get some D vitamin(from fish oil) then you really got the freaking swine flue virus by the jugular, praying for your mercy.)
Remember...use your wisdom muscles to defeat the lower life form named ,,zer virus,,
I sense victory!..and so says Dr Mercola.
ps..remember I have medical training...I studied lots about.I really don't want to explain you now the mechanics of ,,how,, the calcium,C vitamin,or D vitamin are connected.Just trust me for now...or why the baking soda is connected.Just think...when you eat a carrot, you feel better.Why?..that's my secret.
Thus spokenth the mahayogi, for the benefit of the grasshoppers.
Those whom have ears to hear..let them hear.
The ONLY deal I made was that I'll be there...if you are here.AND that's the DEAL my dear.
In the 3 realms I'll be there,if you are here.
Thus spokenth the mahayogi..can you be here?..and the only way you can be here,is by meditating on the witness. The one within, the pure awareness.Beyond thoughts.Your true self...then,I'll be there...kisses:)
Merry Christmas.

In today’s modern world of medicine the FDA just will not let companies that sell products make medical claims about them unless they have been tested at great expense, and approved as a drug. But this was not always the case.

In a 1924 booklet published by the Arm & Hammer Soda Company, the company starts off saying, “The proven value of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda as a therapeutic agent is further evinced by the following evidence of a prominent physician named Dr. Volney S. Cheney, in a letter to the Church & Dwight Company:

“In 1918 and 1919 while fighting the ‘Flu’ with the U. S. Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely any one who had been thoroughly alkalinized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalinized early, would invariably have mild attacks.”

Recommended dosages from the Arm and Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925 were:

* During the first day take six doses of half teaspoonful of Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at about two hour intervals
* During the second day take four doses of half teaspoonful of Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals
* During the third day take two doses of half teaspoonful of Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter half teaspoonful in glass of cool water each morning until cold is cured

Sodium Bicarbonate November 30, 2009

Baking soda (also known as sodium bicarbonate), popularized by Arm & Hammer some 155 years ago, is derived from a natural occurring mineral, and is one of the safest and most versatile substances around. In fact, if you search for “baking soda” on my site, you’ll find a number of articles detailing its potential uses, including using it as a:

* Household cleaner
* Sunburn remedy
* Alternative to toxic antiperspirants
* Sports performance enhancer

Few people realize, however, that baking soda also has potent medicinal properties. Taken internally, it helps maintain the pH balance in your bloodstream. This is likely the basic premise behind its recommended uses against both colds and influenza symptoms, and even cancer.
Baking Soda as an All-Natural Cold Remedy

In their booklet “Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Medical Uses,” published in 1924, Dr. Volney S. Cheney recounts his clinical successes with sodium bicarbonate in treating cold and flu:

“In 1918 and 1919 while fighting the ‘flu’ with the U. S. Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely anyone who had been thoroughly alkalinized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalinized early, would invariably have mild attacks.

I have since that time treated all cases of ‘cold,’ influenza and LaGripe by first giving generous doses of bicarbonate of soda, and in many, many instances within 36 hours the symptoms would have entirely abated.

Further, within my own household, before Woman’s Clubs and Parent-Teachers’ Associations, I have advocated the use of bicarbonate of soda as a preventive for “colds,” with the result that now many reports are coming in stating that those who took “soda” were not affected, while nearly everyone around them had the “flu.”

According to the Materia Medica by Walter Bastedo, sodium bicarbonate taken internally can soothe your mucous membranes and dissolve thick mucus.

It’s worth noting that I have personally never tried this cold remedy, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it worked, as maintaining proper acid-alkalinity balance in your body will have a beneficial impact on your natural immune system function.

If any of you have experience using baking soda as a cold remedy, I’d love to hear about it.

The administration is easy enough, and is harmless even if you should not experience relief from your cold symptoms. Simply dissolve the recommended amount of baking soda in a glass of cold water and drink it.

Recommended dosages from the Arm & Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925 were:

* Day 1 -- Take six doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at about two hour intervals
* Day 2 -- Take four doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals
* Day 3 -- Take two doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter ½ teaspoon in glass of cool water each morning until cold symptoms are gone

Further dosing recommendations and instructions for taking sodium bicarbonate can be found in Mark Sircus’ book Sodium Bicarbonate – Rich Mans Poor Mans Cancer Treatment, which is also available in Kindle edition.

According to Arm & Hammer’s dosing instructions, do not exceed seven doses of ½ teaspoon per day, or three doses of ½ teaspoon daily if you’re over the age of 60. In addition, do not use the maximum dosage for more than two weeks.

The Potent Healing Power of Baking Soda

Dr. Tullio Simonici and Mark Sircus, Ac, OMD both advocate using baking soda for even the most serious of diseases – cancer!

Unfortunately, despite all the evidence showing that baking soda indeed has enormous potential as an effective and non-toxic cancer treatment, conventional medicine is refusing to take notice, as baking soda will never be a huge profit center for any drug company.

Even worse, the industry tries to discredit or downright destroy those who dare bring inexpensive treatment options like baking soda to the forefront. Make no mistake about it, cancer treatment is big business, and for all the promises to find a cure, there seems to be an unwritten law somewhere stating it will only be studied and accepted if there’s big profits to be had.

Dr. Simoncini, who is an oncologist (cancer specialist), was ousted from the medical community when he refused to use conventional cancer treatment methods and elected instead to administer sodium bicarbonate.

This despite the fact that he’s been able to show that 99 percent of breast- and bladder cancer can heal in just six days, entirely without the use of surgery, chemo or radiation, using just a local infiltration device (such as a catheter) to deliver the sodium bicarbonate directly to the infected site in your breast tissue or bladder!

You can watch actual before and after footage of the treatment working in this video.

In his book Winning the War on Cancer, Dr. Sircus writes:

“Sodium bicarbonate is the time honored method to 'speed up' the return of the body’s bicarbonate levels to normal. Bicarbonate is inorganic, very alkaline and like other mineral type substances, supports an extensive list of biological functions.

Sodium bicarbonate happens to be one of our most useful medicines because bicarbonate physiology is fundamental to life and health.”

Many chemotherapy treatments actually include sodium bicarbonate to help protect the patient’s kidneys, heart and nervous system. It’s been said that administering chemotherapy without bicarbonate could possibly kill you on the spot.

Could it be that while mixing chemo poisons with baking soda, any improvements seen are the result of the baking soda, and not the toxic poisons? Dr. Sircus believes that may be the case.

“There are no studies separating the effects of bicarbonate from the toxic chemotherapy agents, nor will there ever be,” he says.

Final Thoughts

If you keep an open mind, you will quickly learn that there are numerous ways to support your body in healing that have nothing to do with toxic drugs, vaccines, or surgery, even when it comes to a serious condition like cancer.

Men of War

Politicians they are a mess
Every limit they love to transgress
Catawauling, marauding, stalling
So very often - even mauling
Iraq - that's where they left their mark
And then Iran
The same old story spun out of old yarn.
We the subjects toil and toil
To make a living on the soil
And they in their ivory towers
Remain as insipid as Austin Powers.
They shoot, moot, blow their own flute
Blair, Bush and even Mush
As spineless as an infant's tush.
Were they like Red Adair
They would deliver and not just swear
So whoever allows to kill and maim
Has etched his name in the annals of shame.

*note* The gods within us must awaken.. otherwise all we can do is watch each others killing ourselves,as nations against nations, where the individual is nothing, like in this movie,,The red thin line,,..and then the Malenesian aborigines will sing for us the following song...

Wake up people, and realize your true nature...which is unity, love and wisdom...

don't let those aborigines sing it for us .and explain us the meaning....let us sing it now... for we are ONE in spirit, one indeed...as those  aborigines already figured out...what they sing is about unity, the lost sense...that we are ONE!

Thus spokenth the mahayogi.

THE ETERNAL QUEST

In the shadows we seek
For a month - a day or a week?
Maybe a lifetime
Perhaps an era that transgresses several timelines
Like jaded footprints on the canvas of time.

If seeking is the prerogative of the weak
Then pray, what were Christ, Buddha and Sai thirsting for - while at their peak?
Praying, sharing and brewing a potion of love and mirth
Certainly not ruing - God's wonderful world
Besmirched as it is with yearning for silver and gold.

We zealously seek blinded by dreams of money and fame
Ignoring the warning signs
That money in due course is no more than an ugly source
Which in turn breeds pride, contempt and remorse.

And fame, just a precursor to shame.
The dying man, the AIDS victim, the Saint
They seek not, want not, fear not
For God has instilled in them a sense of fortitude
That does not abandon them in solitude.

So what makes us content - wealth, tranquility or unassailable health?
Where lies the answer to this eternal query?
Not on Earth nor on Mars nor on Alpha Centauri.

The Great Spirit

Black Elk's near-death experience

The near-death experiences of the Native American medicine man, Black Elk, of the Lakota Sioux nation, echo with the enchanting poetic language of an ancient society. His story reveals a traditional natural world culture, yet also many of the familiar phenomena of near-death experiences that leap across eras. Living between 1863 and 1950, Black Elk survived the collision of two eras, when the ancient primal world of his people was shattered by the violent invasion of the new industrial culture. This remarkable medicine man did not even speak English when he told his visionary experience to the author, John Neihardt, who told it in his book, Black Elk Speaks, in 1932. In this classic of Native American literature, Black Elk's near-death experience glows through his perceptions of a sacred natural world.

The world of the Lakota Sioux is filled not with soulless material objects out there but with the manifestations of the presence of being that lies behind all creation: Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery. This spiritual power is not personified as a remote God, but is both transcendent and present in all the world: in thunder, water, blood, birds, buffalo. Since the worldview of industrial society demands the expulsion of these perceptions, they seem like dim archaic memories. But Black Elk's near-death experience was a living, vital way of seeing in a sacred manner.

When Black Elk was a boy of nine, he collapsed with a severe, painful swelling of his legs, arms and face.

He lost consciousness and lay in his tipi dying. He was called by two men coming from the clouds, saying, "Hurry up, your grandfather is calling you."

He was raised up out of his tipi into the clouds, feeling sorry to leave his parents. He was shown an elaborate vision oriented around a classic Native American mandala:

the circular hoop, the four directions, and the center of the world on an axis stretching from sky to Earth, numerous neighing, dancing horses, surrounded by lightning and thunder, filled the sky at each direction.

He was told to behold this, then to follow a bay horse, which led him to a rainbow door. Inside, sitting on clouds, were six grandfathers, "older than men can ever be - old like hills, old like stars."

The oldest grandfather welcomed the boy and said: "Your Grandfathers all over the world are having a council, and they have called you here to teach you."

His voice was very kind, but the boy shook all over with fear now, for he knew that these were not old men, but the Powers of the World.

Each Grandfather gave Black Elk a power.

The first Grandfather gave him the power to heal.

The second Grandfather then gave the boy the power of cleansing.

The third Grandfather gave the boy the power of awakening and its peace.

From the fourth Grandfather the boy was given the power of growth.

The fifth Grandfather, the Spirit of the Sky, gave the power of transcendent vision.

The sixth Grandfather, a very old man, incredibly grew backwards into youth until he became the boy, Black Elk.

Growing older again he said, "My boy, have courage, for my power shall be yours, and you shall need it, for your nation on the Earth will have great troubles."

Then the boy hears a great Voice say: "Behold the circle of the nation's hoop, for it is holy, being endless, and thus all powers shall be one power in the people without end."

Then Black Elk, standing on the highest mountain, surveying the grand vista of the hoop of the world, said: "I saw more than I can tell and I understood more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live together like one being."

After returning to the six Grandfathers once again to receive his powers, the boy was sent back to his dying body. When he awoke, his overjoyed parents told him that he had been sick twelve days, lying as if dead the whole time.

Black Elk was afraid to tell his experience, and moped around as a shy, withdrawn boy for eight years. Finally he told a medicine man who helped him reenact the vision as a ritual. At that moment he became a powerful medicine man or shaman, healing, he said, many people of illnesses from tuberculosis to despair.

He kept his vision alive with daily practices, such as meditation on the daybreak star. But the great sadness of his life was his inability to stop the destructive onslaught of industrial culture, in search of gold and land that almost destroyed his people.

"You live on Earth only for a few short years which you call an incarnation, and then you leave your body as an outworn dress and go for refreshment to your true home in the spirit." - White Eagle

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name

Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan:
Ghazali has said in his Alchemy of Happiness that the spiritual path is like shooting an arrow into the dark. ... Whoever sets out on this path is therefore in constant warfare. He has to encounter opposition from his relatives, from his friends and acquaintances; he gets into trouble with those who misunderstand his aims; they misuse him; they misjudge him and blame him for doing things and thinking in a manner which they believe to be unjustified.

Think of Christ, whose thoughts were so contrary to the religious thoughts of his time. How difficult to pass from the thought of an ordinary person to the thought of Christ! What difficulties there are to face! But once you fight these difficulties, and the further you advance, the more you are drawn to the spirit by the spirit.

'Resist not evil', the scripture says. When there is resistance to evil of the other person, do not become angry with him. When you foster the same emotion, you add to his, and you increase the same fire in yourself. It is like infecting yourself with a contagious disease instead of curing it. Anger and bitterness will die out in time.

There was a small group of people in London who were working along spiritual lines. They felt a sort of rivalry against my little society, and they began to try to do us harm by telling stories against us and by setting others against us. My helpers came to tell me how we were being damaged in this way and asked if they should not do something to stop this. But I answered, 'the best way to treat this is with indifference. Take no notice.'

And when they insisted that these doings would do us great harm I said, 'Not at all. The only harm it could do would be if we allowed this harm to enter our circle. Let them do as they like and let us go on doing what we are doing!' As the years went by they never heard us say a word against them; on the contrary, we welcomed them, we helped them, we served them in whatever way we could. In time this resistance completely vanished. We have been going forward, and they still stand where they were. Just a little indifference was enough!

What is the meaning of Joseph being put in the well? The meaning is a trial. For every promising soul, every righteous soul will have opposition and envy and jealousy. And the righteous and good, wise and beautiful will shine out some day.

Volume XII - The Divinity of the Human Soul

Part I: The Vision of God and Man and other Lectures

MASTERY (2)

GHAZALI has said in his Alchemy of Happiness that the spiritual path is like shooting an arrow into the dark. You cannot know where it will fall or what it will strike. You are going along blindly, not knowing what you really seek or what you have achieved so far.

There is only one commendable procedure; and so if your walk along the spiritual path makes you better able to manage your thoughts, and makes you stronger on your feet, you will be able to realize all that can be accomplished by patience and by hope. If you only paid attention to this all your life long and watched what you did, you would see your own progress, and what an encouragement it would be!

There are people who keep complaining that nothing is ever manifested to them on their spiritual path – no forms, no ghosts, no colors, no voices, no word. But even if such a person had experienced manifestations of this kind they would have been no help to him; however, he is discouraged because he has not received any. The teacher he would like to have might easily lead him astray from the path, simply because he is aiming at things that do not matter, and a real teacher will not encourage him to seek such things.

The words, 'no, it does not matter' form a sort of principle to adopt in life. Of course there are things which obviously do matter. It matters a great deal if you do not follow your ideal, if you have made a slip of the tongue, or any other shortcoming. But it does not matter if somebody else is not following the same ideal as you; you cannot alter his plan of life, nor his opinions, and so they cannot matter to you.

The Sufi's way is to seek unity and not get lost in variety. People can take up philosophy, theosophy, and all the rest if they wish, but these are not the concern of the Sufi. He will let those people be. His path is the direct path towards unity, and his is the path of balance. If a person compares two pictures and calls the one good and the other poor, let him be. It does not help if the fire in his ego-faculty is aroused. Some day he will see.

The spiritual path may be natural, and it may be unnatural. When man attaches his thought and mind to the external world he comes to partake of earth rather than heaven, of matter rather than of spirit. By partaking of the qualities and habits and limitations of matter he forgets all the qualities of spirit.

Whatever qualities he partakes of, those qualities draw man to the substance to which they belong, and such a man is therefore drawn more to earth than to heaven as he proceeds. Such people would rather not go to heaven but would prefer to stay on earth in spite of all the struggles, difficulties and illnesses that belong to life on earth. Man is so attached to it

He does not know the joy and peace and pleasure and happiness and comfort of the other side, for he has had no experience of spirit whatsoever.

!!!!!!!!!!!... ponder!!!!
He does not know the joy and peace and pleasure and happiness and comfort of the other side, for he has had no experience of spirit whatsoever...

All the same there are people who feel a kind of a call from the spirit, and yet they are attached to the objective world in so many ways. It is as if they are so intimately woven into the web of this world that it is very difficult for them to get away from it. For every step that a man takes towards heaven he is drawn backward ten steps to the earth.

This goes on up to a certain limit, and all this time the difficulties are very great, but once you reach the limit everything becomes easy. If only the will power is in control it will overcome the inertia.

Dervishes sometimes do humorous things. There is a story about a certain dervish sitting in the shade of a tree, who was always very kind and helpful to those who came to see him. But one day a young man, a soldier, was passing by, and he said something to the dervish, which made him very cross. So they had a few words. Thereupon the soldier began to bully him and give him blows on his back and neck, without the dervish making any protest. The soldier then went on his way.

A wise man sitting near by was thinking to himself, 'What a funny thing, for this dervish is always good and kind and hospitable, so why should this soldier be so angry as to punch him and hit him all over?' So he watched attentively and noticed the dervish saying, ' Is it enough, or do you want some more?'

The man wondered why the dervish said this, but the explanation is that the ego always wants feeding, and the more you feed it the more energy it has. What are you feeding it with? You feed it with your inclinations, by getting praise from people or attentions, benefits, help, or love. Whether these come justly or through injustice, rightfully or not, this ego is never satisfied; it keeps on wanting attention. As a result it begins to rule over the higher faculties of inspirational and spiritual power, of wisdom, reason, and justice – all the beautiful qualities. This Nafs or ego or Satan (for the ego is Satan) governs all these faculties, and a man cannot become saintly until he has crushed it; there is no other way whatever than this. The saintly personality cannot come into being until all this is achieved.

But how can you walk along this path in the course of your practical life, with all the responsibilities inherent in the life of the world? The servants take advantage of a saintly person; selfish people and those who are blind to justice take every advantage of a person who behaves kindly and considerately and helpfully towards others!

Well, the answer is simple. This development is really for yourself, and once you have attained it the course of action is in your hands. For example, suppose you are taking the part of a king on the stage and your part calls on you to become angry with a servant, you do not really become angry. You just play the part of a king who is cross. Thus you can be cross without being actually angry.

This is what happens in the development of a saintly personality. When once the Nafs is crushed you will never find it necessary to be angry any more, though you can act the part of one who is angry and pretend to be angry. So if it is necessary to show anger this does not mean the fire of hell for you as it would be for others, for you are only using an instrument, and that instrument is not your master. In the same way you are justified in whatever course you find before you in life, as long as you really have freed yourself form control by the Nafs.

There is a story about a great Sufi master who lived in Arabia. During some war a certain battle was fought. Now in those days battles were hand-to-hand fights, and this man's enemy was overpowered by him and he was about to kill him. But at that moment the enemy spat in his face. The teacher immediately let go of the man and did not kill him. The enemy was greatly surprised at this and said,' You were about to kill me; why did you not do so?' He replied, 'The reason is that you did something that was bound to rouse my anger, and if I had killed you while under the influence of anger I would have acted against my principles. Therefore, as soon as I caught myself in this fault I became unable to carry through with my first intention.'

This shows how a person can even fight and yet keep control over his anger and pain. As long as he is the master he can be blamed for nothing. But that is just the question: to be the master! Suppose a person is angry and you get cross with him too. It may bring a certain satisfaction to give an outlet to that anger at the moment, but if only you would discover the joy of being able to smile when the other person is cross, what a difference from the satisfaction one derives from the other act! The joy is so much greater because you keep control: it is just like not adding more fuel to a fire.

The best way to control sudden outbursts of emotion is by developing the habit of exercising the will power suddenly, promptly. If you return anger or jealousy or hatred or prejudice or any other bitterness, you only keep the flame of that emotion alight. It is just the same as when one keeps love alive in another's heart by adding a little affection and love all the time. If you withhold it, it will die, for there is nothing to stimulate it. When a person is always offended, or when he dislikes this or that, he is keeping the fire going, whereas once you pass it by and smile you raise yourself above it and it will die out, for then it has no more food to live on.
'Resist not evil', the scripture says. When there is resistance to evil in the other person do not become angry with him. When you foster the same emotion you add to his, and you increase the same fire in yourself.

Take no notice.' And when they insisted that these doings would do us great harm I said, 'Not at all.

You cannot expect all people to be just. When they are children, how can we expect them to behave as grown-ups? You can not expect all kinds of fruit to ripen at once; it takes time, but in time they will all become sweet. So wait patiently, and it will become plain to them in time. Why blame others when they are not up to your ideal? How can a disagreeable person be agreeable if his evolution prevents him from being otherwise and wisdom does not permit him to act differently? Help him in whatever way you can, without expecting him to be different. Why should you ruin your own life over it? Your own life is very precious. When you do not worry about others, or judge them, you can mediate, think, be silent, and at the same time be serviceable to the world. There is plenty in our own selves to judge; enough to keep us fully occupied all our life long!

Jesus Christ said, 'My fathers house has many mansions.' By these are meant places of being, paths of attainment, roads to travel on. Once you are on the real road you will keep on learning every moment of your life, not only during your sleep in dreams, but at any time. An owl cannot see in the daytime; it is during the night that he learns things. But this is only a partial inspiration; the mystic gains experience in every aspect of life, when eating, sitting, walking, in all actions. All these are channels of learning. The real road is to be followed at all times, and it is the one who has seen the Master who is really the one being taught. Once you have linked yourself with love, a flood of inspiration is revealed to you, whatever the subject, whatever the problem in life may be.

Whatever it be that your eye casts its glance upon, it will disclose itself. Then you are on the real road, and what a joy this is!
Breadth of heart is what is needed for all this. The weapon is the thought that nothing matters. It takes courage to say: nothing matters. It is the breadth of heart that makes a man great, whereas it is narrowness of heart that makes him small. The great heart does not think about how troublesome a person is, and why he should be bothered like this. It is only the narrow of heart that thinks, 'I will cause him some trouble.' It may be justified, but still it is a narrow thought. The one with a broad heart thinks,' This is a small thing, I can put up with it; not much harm will come from it.'

The Nizam wrote this verse, 'The width of the land and the water cannot be compared with the width of man's heart. If man's heart is wide enough there is nothing greater than that.' The heart becomes wide by forgetting the self, and narrow by thinking of the self and by pitying one's self. To gain a wide and broad heart you must have something before you to look upon and to rest your intelligence upon, and that something is the God-ideal. This is the prescription for killing the self, and to kill the self is the basis of every religion.

Then, keeping your self before your consciousness, and by resting your consciousness on God, God who is unlimited will come to you;  and thus your knowledge and your powers will become unlimited also.

*note* hahaha...great song from the ,,Blues Brothers,, movie. The idea is this, and listen to my mahayogi lips, and follow my wisdom muscle. You ALWAYS project what you are inside...can I make myself more clear?..so if YOu think you NEED anyone outside to love, this means you project your inner love(which you have not discovered yet) on that person.
Because love is one,not separated..but to know it,you must project it outside(if you don't meditate, and discover that YOU are that love)
But that person is your projection...it WAS YOU all along, projecting in that person, what is INSIDE YOU!
But..you can always see the light and KNOW...and reunite the band, like Blues Brothers singing in the Church,,I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!..like James Brown here.

ps..the funny thing is that I have visited many black churches in the US,and all of them were singing and dancing on this hilarious way..this is no JOKE!..those guys were really energetic...I was usually the only white man there, and they loved me dearly when I sung with them,,I see the light,,!!!..kisses to them!

Johnny Nash-I Can See Clearly Now

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way(because I have meditated my ass off,and seen the Tao,so now the real work begins)
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind(when I meditate, otherwise they pop-up like mushrooms after a rainy day when I am not following the ,,narrow path,, between eternity and manifesting dream world)
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day(this is because I have faith in my previous experiences,or I trust the wise man whom told me to have faith, till I BECOME the faith...however..if I think I am wise enough, usually I insult the wise man on emails, telling him I am the greatest, and he is an idiot.)
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day
(If I have faith on the process)
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone(because I listened to the wise, and forgot any previous concepts induced by the collective subconscious,or my past traumas/experiences...)
All of the bad feelings have disappeared( I have become the sunshine..I was the answer to the question,,where is zer sunshine,,It was me all along)
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for( I am the rainbow)
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day(because there is nothing else)

Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies(unity, beauty, love, wisdom)

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone(because I abandoned my ego-glasses,and now I can see..halleluyah!
I can see all obstacles in my way(there are obstacles, but they are part of the 5 elements,or the 6th called,,consciousness,,..however,I am that and not that in the same time.
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind(I became immortal)
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright), sun shiny day (not because I have faith, but because I know)

.................
FROM POINT OF VIEW TO FIELD OF VIEW
& THE MYSTERY OF THE EGO
Dimitri Halley
Summary
We keep using the same system of thinking and expecting different results. A form of
thinking is proposed here in order to reach beyond the old dualistic system of thinking which
is based on points of view and sense of separateness between observer and observed. In
this article an approach toward a more complete grasp of reality is explained in terms of
what is called a field of view.

The field of view is juxtaposed to the point of view, which is
argued is inherently one-sided and which constitutes the fundamental flaw in the current
system of thinking dominant in the modern world. However this sense of separateness does
constitute a crucial stage (ego) toward the possibility of becoming self-aware, which is what
the field of view or field awareness is based on.

FROM PARTICLE TO FIELD
The problem with the point of view, as the word point implies, is that we end up pointing -
at- something, yet in the process separate our-self from what is pointed at or thought
about/looked at. The ensuing sense of separateness will be explained below is a double
edged sword.

It is associated with the purpose of the ego and the profound ethical problems
which result from this sense of detachment, yet it is also the sine qua non to exit the
primordial indigenous undifferentiated state of awareness toward a dangerous separation
and differentiation yet only via which we are able to develop self-awareness (Neumann,
1954).

Bohm describes the ethical consequences of this form of linear thinking as follows: "It is
proposed that the widespread and pervasive distinctions between people (race, nation,
family, profession, etc., etc.), which are now preventing mankind from working together for
the common good, and indeed, even for survival, have one of the key factors of their origin
in a kind of thought that treats things as inherently divided, disconnected, and "broken up"
into yet smaller constituent part. Each part is considered to be essentially independent and
self-existent" (Bohm, 1983, xi).

Yet via developing the field of view we return to such a non-dual state yet with selfawareness.
The problem with the point (particle) of view approach is that is ends up looking "at"
something, and doing that from only one (external) vantage point, and inevitably ends up
excluding complementary perspectives. The field is basically a "field of tension".

The field of view means looking at one same situation or thing with or from two (opposing)
perspectives. In terms of education if I look at the world (student) only as a teacher I will
not grasp the field (of tension), which makes up the whole field or truth of the situation.

One could call this a typically western approach to wholeness. I will always end up onesided
in my view as teacher. Yet I need to also look at the world as a student. To grasp the
field I need to contain both poles of the pair.
This could be called the typical western path to wholeness for here we have to suffer the
opposites, for this alone leads to wholeness. This is a painful and narrow road vis-à-vis-the
broad road where we run away from the shadow often with hedonism (drugs, sex, power
1

etc). We get a glimpse of this Western way in terms of the crucifixion symbol which
emerges in dreams of westerners as the archetype of development of consciousness.

Here
only the painful continence of the opposites leads to a resurrection or awakening to more
complete grasp of reality.
What emerges then is that I have to contain a field of tension or opposites. Only when I
contain the pair of opposites do I grasp the whole field or the whole situation. For the
opposites are complementary. The whole is always a contradiction, a paradox. Jung once
said a psychological statement is only true if it is paradoxical. Only a direct confrontation
with paradox brings us close to the truth or wholeness. The two poles are one, yet we tend
to always rent them apart.

This means that we have to learn to think paradoxically. One way to approach this is that
we remain mindful that there are always 2 poles running things. We learn to think (actually
be aware) in pairs and realize that the pairs are one. It's like looking at one thing
simultaneously at two different angles. And not only two different angles but often two
competing and opposing angles. This is difficult for the mind tends to recede back into
points (one) of view (pointing at), excluding the opposite and other member of the pair.

So
for instance in Jungian terms we will tend to realize that we always have two opinions about
things: one feminine and one masculine. For instance when we react in a certain way we
will tend to search for or look for the counter reaction which I at that moment am tending to
not express. If I am too nice to someone I will automatically tend to realize that I am hiding
my disagreement with them.

If I am too angry in a certain situation I will realize that I am
hiding my fear. Grandiose behavior is repressed insecurity.
The whole (reaction in this sense) will always tend to express itself in opposites. I must
have some fear in order to not become overly confident and vice verse. So in this sense I'm
looking for the opposing stand point or viewpoint and thus I become the whole field (of
tension). When the opposites are contained for instance symbols emerge (also in dreams)
where the poles connect and we get doublets and twin symbols as the hermaphrodite. In
ancient archaic languages we find this ambivalence of words where the poles are different
yet identical.
"Such "doublets," identical figures, appear frequently in dreams when the basic polarity of
the unconscious is activated.

The opposites on a deep level are identical in the sense that
"good" and "bad," "positive" and "negative," "feminine" and "masculine" are still not
distinguishable, not yet separated. [Footnote: This is either a state of "preconscious"
harmony, of unity in the uroboros (cf. Neumann, Origins, p. 18 et passim) or the final state
of the union of the opposites. This primal identity is a characteristic of the archetype in
general: life and death, man and woman, etc., are basically identical (as expressed in the
symbol of the hermaphrodite). Another instance is the mythical motif twins: identical but
representing opposites. To this context belongs the well-known ambivalence of basic words
in archaic language (K. Abel, Der Gegensinn der Urworte, quoted from Freud, Introductory
Lectures on Psycho-Analysis,pp. 150, 194; cf. also Jones, Sigmund Freud, II, pp. 347 ff.);
for instance, Latin altus means both "high" and "deep," sacer both "holy" and "cursed,"
etc.]

The differentiation takes place in the elaboration of the basic, preconscious polarity
before separation, for the "good" and "bad" intellect. But their "value," their position inside
the whole, will have to be worked out later in the process of development." (Adler,
1961, 151.).
THE FIELD IN COMMUNICATION
If we listen keenly to ourselves and others we will hear the conflict and opposition (field of
tension). Yet when keenly listening we will also hear how we/the person tends to very
2
subtly dissociate and disregard the polarity or conflict.

A woman in a class/lecture situation
is constantly interrupting the lecturer. Yet she starts repeatedly with the following
statement: "I don't mean to be annoying but I am going to interrupt you again." If we
listen keenly we find here how she (one pole) is basically telling herself (the other pole) that
her constantly interrupting the lecture is annoying, yet the side/pole that keeps doing this is
not really paying heed to this opinion of herself. The less inhibited pole is trying to
compensate the uninhibited side but this side is being ignored practically.

In this case
there's no connection between the poles. This inner talk is constantly occurring in us, yet
when it is not heeded the opposite side can emerge in dreams or even via projection be
made to play out via others. The gist here being that the more explosive side is in dire need
of the opposite in order to reach some kind of a balance or wholeness.

The confrontation
with the opposite (also referred to as shadow) is confusing and very difficult to deal with.
In this case the person has already started to project this aspect or pole of themselves on
the other/s, experiencing it in externalized terms that it is others would be finding her
annoying. The field experience is turning into a point of view.
Yet when touching the shadow we are confronted with the fact that we have two opposing
perspectives on one same situation. In this sense what is found is a field perspective for I
now experience the whole field of tension as my experience and outlook.

What is most
important is that the attention shifts from the individual perspective to the interaction
between them in the host. In a sense thus the focus shifts from thinking and feeling to
relation and awareness, and thus not whether one or the other pole is right but that we
need this interplay between perspectives in order to find wholeness. This also occurs interpersonally.

When they're permitted to collide and impact each other what results is a
synergistic effect between them and a third more integrated (transcendent) sense
emerges.
"The third person represents a special viewpoint. Here we come upon one of the first
conclusions of psychotherapy and perhaps one of the most shocking: a deep and lasting
relationship is only possible with a consciousness that is directly involved in and also
detached from the relationship..." (Mindell, 1987, 10).
So here we move out of the realm of thinking as such and strictly defined toward either
rejecting (resistance) or accepting the influence of the opposite.

When suffering the tension of being teacher and student two poles collide and a new more
complete experience emerges, no more "a" perspective, but an indwelling, a dialogue.
SEEING THE FIELD
Perspective defined as: "the appearance of things relative to one another as determined by
their distance from the viewer", dissipates for I am both the looked and the looker so
there's no distance or appearance: "I am the whole field". What we get is self-awareness or
thus awareness of being the whole field. Or more specifically awareness of certain
unconscious aspects of self. So the practice of becoming aware of these latent
(unconscious) aspects is seeing the field.

That is seeing the pair in terms of how the shadow
tends compensate the dominant pole. It boils down to capturing these signals. Mindell
(1987) calls these unintended signals secondary signals. This act of self-awareness lessens
the resistance in the (underlying unified) field. So the core of the approach used here is
becoming aware of the unconscious pole or signals in a situation.
The essence of the process remains a lessening of resistance to opposite points of view or
thus opposites which is inclusion. This is not a cognitive act but a relational operation/act. It
3
is the act of embracing something, i.e., a part of us which we have rejected. It is not (only)
an intellectual or cognitive act. Strictly cognitive acts distinguish and separate. It is an act
of indwelling and feeling that opposite perspective; becoming it. As far as I have reached in
describing the nature of the operation (of touching the Shadow) is entering it and becoming
what the so-called object or other feels (indwelling or inner-standing) versus looking at it
from without.

Therefore also the denomination "touching" from in "touching the shadow".
So becoming aware of it as part of me and seeing how it feels/touching it. Because in
essence it is a part of me I take back. Touching the shadow (or field awareness) is like art,
we can only understand art by becoming it (part of it). Below this part will tie into why
awareness (self) is the path out of division and not thinking. Toward deeper levels, which
are reached when touching the shadow is practiced (in terms of awareness; self-talk, in
dreams and projections) we can go to deeper levels where this underlying unified field is
found playing out between the physical and the nonphysical.
In terms of body work we becoming the symptom, to see what it feels and thus as a means
of reconnecting to the dissociated shadow/fragment. I become the arm to see what the arm
feels and so take back that dismembered fragment of self. For also the body is a theater of
this conflict.

THE FIELD-NATURE OF THE BODY
So in practice we always look for the field (the compensatory interplay of pairs of
opposites). In this sense for instance ones body is looked at as a venue for the expression
of the latent or unconscious member of the pair and thus the field. Sweaty palms are
viewed as expressing one member of the pair and thus as part of the field (Self). But so are
other somatic conditions as infertility and cancer. Also the surrounding is part of the fieldeffect.
The way the other is behaving is inextricably intertwined with the dominant state I
am in. In this sense the other will play out aspects of the field and thus of the pole or
member of the pair I am not acknowledging.

The whole or paradox will and can express
itself in terms of opposites and in two (causally unrelated) domains at the same time. For I
am both while striving to be one. Reality (as field) behaves as a pair. The + always follows
the - and vice verse. There's always a - enfolded under the +.
Only when embracing the pair of opposites we get a flow while high resistance (between the
pair) blocks the (free) flow. We need to embrace the confluence of the pair, then conflict
becomes an opportunity.
Becoming aware of the conflict (the inevitable first step), or the pair in their high state of
mutual resistance, induces initially what is often referred to as "mixed feelings"; for it brings
the latent conflict into awareness.

For instance as in when we are too happy we need to find
the sadness concealed within. Yet this field awareness soon becomes soothing as when we
don't run away from a depression for it is half of the whole. Only when the poles are
contained do we jump to another level (of existence or self) where they become. But this
one is not an absence of opposition; but the opposites overtly become complementary.
This is the emptiness referred to in eastern traditions as non-duality. Yet in Jungian terms
one cannot think oneself there. And in terms of the field effect, the opposite (shadow) will
always tend to boycott the plans of the deceiver in us (i.e., the pole of the pair which wants
to dominate and reject the opposite). In this sense the practice consists of always looking
for the leveling effect in us (our communication/body/dreams/projections etc) and in our
environment in order to find the unconscious member of the pair and so contain the field (of
tension).

4
DEMON IN THE ROSE
The field of view or field awareness is a technique or approach in order to reach the socalled
transcendent domain. Therefore the main practice is based on awareness; becoming
aware of the shadow. For the field operates in terms of the shadow (resisted member of the
pair) compensating our general one-sidedness (dominant member). A woman that strongly
rejects her more strong and secure side, dreams of the floor of her house covered with
rattler snakes ready to bite her. The more the opposite is rejected the more aggressive it
becomes in its attempts to topple the dominant regime of the mind.

Often the shadow is
represented in dreams by snakes. Often that snake biting the dreamer represents the strike
of the shadow to curb the dominance of the one-sided dominant pole in the self. For
instance at such moments of extreme resistance a somatic condition can constellate making
it impossible for the, until than, dominant self-orientation (which has turned lopsided), to
perdure.
A client of (suffering from a serious somatic problem) the author dreams the author is
attending three clients by phone. One is schizophrenic (the dreamer is represented as this
one -directly speaking to the author); the other a movie director and the other is a chemist.
On the phone with the schizophrenic the author is singing a song:

Desert and heaven;
devil’s heart –
in your dreams of tonightthe
demon of the rose;
rose of the desert –inthe
rivers of your bones,
he always comes and goes
–you must bear -
While the author is singing this to him he goes into a trans-conscious state and enters
chemical/molecular-like or crystalline structures composed of sides or planes forming a
crystal cave or diamond-like structure. Within is empty space.

The dream further states: ‘These were the chemical structures that the chemist looked for.
While the chemist studied the history that the movie director couldn’t figure out. He
subsequently said: The 3 of them didn’t know each other while the author was their
‘connection’.

The real drama is the war going on between the two sides in the total self. For instance the
macho strong side who at all costs rejects feeling any vulnerability and weakness and vice
verse. Here the two poles are represented in a disconnected form. A very artistic man who
on the other hand also studied chemistry. In this dream he is portrayed as having not
united these opposites.

The schizophrenic here stands for the fragmented self; i.e., the man
in which either pole is disconnected from the other. The therapist being the connection
indicates that the problem is that they are disconnected, and how often in a therapeutic
context it is the therapist who is their connection or mediator in absence of a connection in
the person.
Here is alluded to how the history (the story) affects the chemistry and the movie-maker
who does deal in stories/histories also omits the physical somatic aspect of the story. The
chemical structures the chemist looks for is the symbol of the Self (or the Self-archetype),
which is the paradoxical whole or the field. The empty space refers to the space void of
resistance which constellates when the shadow is touched as is here done, i.e., in the
dream.
5
In a way the shadow and opposite functions thus like a kind of conscience. It is here called
demon in terms of it being the Shadow and thus the side we least want to see in us).

Often
persons come to therapy to confess a sin "so to speak". Yet when indwelling into their inner
dialogue we find that the opposite is angry at what the dominant side has done. In this
sense it is this side that needs as it were to forgive the side that has committed the wrong.

So in this sense (so to speak) classical meditation is nice but what if we are self deceiving,
who is going to keep the deceiver in us honest? So we must have that "demon" (shadow) in
us who is going to boycott he plans of the deceiver in us.
RECONNECTING WITHIN AND WITHOUT

Reconnecting within and without is the other direction of disconnecting and the sense of
separateness, which results from observation via a point of view.
At the level of perception this means that I am confronted with the fact that what I see in
the other is inevitably a part of me and often a disowned part (pole). This also goes for the
surrounding (animate and inanimate).

Here I realize for instance that if I feel the country I
live in is too small for me, it is I that am too big (inflated). We also hear this in terms of
when someone laments how boring their life is.

Not only what we see out there is always a function of the state I am in. But that state I
perceive in the other is a part (pole) of my total field I am disowning at that moment. If I
am in traffic and take unwarranted risk it is because I am projecting on the traffic a low
level of danger which is a part of me I am rejecting due to which I inflate. I deflate the
surrounding when I reject this deflated side in me.

What I experience is a product of my
interpretations and thus a part of me. In this way the separation serves to generate selfawareness.
If what I experience is always relative to the state I am in, it means that what
we experience is always relative and contextual and has no inherent reality/existence or
value. If I am experiencing the other as too hot, it inevitable means that I am too cold.

There's no way to know what the other/world is independent from the state I am in. If I
were neither hot nor cold I would probably experience it as neither.
The practice here of seeing the field (a field view). Using the dichotomy to become selfaware
leads to a leap to a transcendent experience. Here we look beyond diversity to a
unified field.

Seeing the field means containing it versus not seeing it and thus remaining
stuck in one half or point of view at the expense of the opposite. Seeing the field (touching
the shadow or opposite member of the pair) releases the underlying tension. Dreams depict
this state as empty of tension as an empty space. So the field of view is itself here a way to
create this state empty of tension.

At this level the limitations of space-time are suspended. Non-local experiences are endemic
to this level of depth of self. We will not go into this here but this level is associated with
awareness of intentions and purpose which belong to the so-called transcendent Self.

THE TRANSCENDENT SELF
What we have found in terms of firsthand experiences of what happens when the field view
is suffered is that a self state is achieved, referred to as the Self (capital S) archetype which
transcends the domain of the relative and the opposites. So here the whole being awakens
as it were and it is via this whole version of me that a whole (non-local) glimpse/sense of
reality is availed. Some would call the deepest core of the self: spirit or spiritual in nature.
6

A way to verify getting close to the transcendent self, without falling prey to self-deception,
is gleaning via our dreams for instance statements and insights from this non-local Self,
which resides not at the circumference as the ego but at the center.

The problem with the
conscious mind (in Jungian terms), is that it will tend to think it is understanding nonduality
but for instance it could be doing this in either very cognitive. This is why the
practice of touching the shadow is a way to confront the conscious mind with the opposite
and thus to -in a way of speaking- keep it honest. Yet we must remain weary of the ability
and capacity of the conscious mind/awareness to deceive itself. We need to look for data/
material beyond the fabrications of the conscious.

What we have found is that for instance
in dreams we find insights unfolding of a transcendent nature which -as it were- the
conscious mind would not be able to formulate. In a way then the transcendent is
approached in a empirical form.

THE MYSTERY OF THE EGO
So why do we fall into this illusion of separateness and the inherent existence of things? It
is proposed that we come apart in the illusion of separateness, and while things are
distinguishable yet not separate/d, we do this in order to become self-aware.

The method
developed here is based on self-awareness because the coming apart into the a separate
state and the illusion of inherent existence/separateness, is based on becoming unconscious
of one half of the self or a part of the self. So the formation of this separate "I" is based
on thus on one half of the self becoming unconscious of the other and its core.

Eventually the whole is the self yet the coming apart is actually a way for the whole to
become self-aware. The problem is that when in the mode of separateness we tend to make
sense of the world (the distinguishable) from out of this partial aspect and in doing this tend
to see the whole from one angle only. In our Western context we tend to think about things.

Thinking about thinking to go on thinking is a contradiction in terminus. Consciousness is
the next paradigm. Self awareness is what takes us back into the mode referred to as
transcendent. Here we experience the whole which is not only a composite of (but union of)
multiple/opposing perspectives, which is here referred to as a field of view or seeing the
field.

So in attempting grasp the field or the paradox it's not about anything out there, it’s about
yourself. That’s the most important thing to know about and/in order to, stop us on our
walk from going either too much to right (conservative) or too much to the left (liberal).

In the center or paradox we are both. Self-consciousness based on becoming aware of our
unconscious (touching the shadow) is a bridge toward a more profound and integrated
connection to reality beyond diversity.

Here lies the mystery of the ego. Ego: maybe on micro cosmic/small terms it's the essence
of all badness on planet, yet on big scale, it is what we are truly about. For without the
duality the ego gets caught in, there would be no self-consciousness. There would be
wholeness which is not yet self-aware of itself. This actually takes us to Jung's work in
answer to Job on his analysis of the figure of JHWH; and the necessity of the further
incarnation of God (as the imago Dei or self-archetype) in order to become self-aware. So
the duality, as such, is the illusion yet without it we can't reach self-awareness.

"We rightly associate the idea of suffering with a state in which the opposites violently
collide with one another, and we hesitate to describe such a painful experience as being
"redeemed." Yet it cannot be denied that the great symbol of the Christian faith, the Cross,
upon which hangs the suffering figure of the redeemer, has been emphatically held up
before the eyes of Christians for nearly two-thousand years...Why this inevitable product of
7

Christian psychology should signify redemption is hard to see, except that the conscious
recognition of the opposites, painful though it may be for the moment, does bring with it a
definite feeling of deliverance. It is on the one hand a deliverance from the distressing state
of dull and helpless unconsciousness, and on the other a growing awareness of God's
opposites, in which man can participate if he does not shrink from being wounded by the
dividing sword which is Christ. Only through the most extreme and most menacing conflict
does the Christian experience of deliverance into divinity, always provided that he does not
break, but accepts the burden of being marked out by God. In this way alone can the imago
Dei realize itself in him, and God become man." (Jung, 1969).
